Raptorans are a freedom loving race of humanoid avians.
Raptorans are slightly taller than humans with longer arms and legs although they tend to be slightly thinner. Most Raptorans have white feathers than may turn darker on the tips as they age. Their facial features tend to be angular and hawk-like.
At a young age, all Raptorans go through a ritual that determines their fitness to fly. Those that pass the test gain the ability to fly. As Raptorans grow older and stronger they are capable of flying for longer periods of time. Adult Raptorans capable of actively flying for about 10 minutes at a time although they can glide for longer time periods.
The typical Raptoran flock has between forty to eighty members. Each flock is governed by a chief. A high chieftain rules over several hundred flocks.
Raptoran flocks usually build their communities into the side of a cliff or some other place that's difficult for other creatures to reach. Raptorans do not raise animals for food but are accomplished hunters of game.
The primary deity of the Raptorans is Tuilviel Glithien, the Queen of Air and Night who is the patron of the hunt and the family.
Ages ago, the Raptorans made a pact with the lords of the Elemental Plane of Air which gave the Raptorans the ability to fly in exchange for their pledge to send warriors to fight for the lords.
